Joyful Harvest

Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.  They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.  (Psalm 126:4-6 KJV)

Another way to say “turn again our captivity” would be “return our captives.”  As someone who prays daily for my family to return to the Lord, this verse spoke to me this morning.

Is it okay that I pray with tears?

Yes, it’s okay.  The only thing that seems to matter is that I sow the seed.  As a farmer throws out handfuls of seed into the field, I throw out mouthfuls of declarations into the atmosphere.

I declare the promises that my family will be saved.

I keep sowing and sowing and sowing.  Declaring, declaring, declaring. I can cry all I want to as I sow.  No shame in that at all.  All that matters is that I keep on sowing.

And one day I will see the sprouts.  One day, after sowing and sowing and sowing, I will finally reap my harvest.  On that day, my tears will turn to rejoicing, as I gather in my harvest and watch my family return to the Lord.
