The Name of Jesus
at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth (Philippians 2:10 NIV)
And his name through faith in his name hath made
this man strong (Acts 3:16 KJV)
And these signs will accompany those who
believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new
tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when
they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their
hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17-18 NIV)
We
hold the Name of Jesus, and the Name of Jesus holds power.
What
power? Demons, sicknesses, diseases,
deformities; curses of any kind must obey us when we use the Name Jesus.
The
Name of Jesus in us works in a similar way to a power of attorney or a signet
ring.
In
His absence, we, the Church, represent Him on the earth.
Jesus
destroyed the devil at the cross, and reclaimed the authority over the earth
and all creatures. Before Jesus returned
to Heaven, he gave His church not only the great commission, but incredible
authority to go with it.
The
devil, after suffering complete humiliation and defeat at the cross, had the
audacity to send out representatives all over the earth to hurt people who didn’t
yet know he had lost his power.
Fortunately,
Jesus knew the devil would do this. He
has His own representatives – people who carry His power of attorney, His
signet ring, His authority.
These
representatives bear His Name, and they take His place on the earth.
In
the Name of Jesus, in the place of Jesus, they simply remind the demon of the
cross and command it to get out.
