The way My Father Sees Me

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  (Mark 11:24 NIV)

I understand what this verse is saying:  believe you’re healed before you see that you’re healed, and your healing will manifest.

Countless people have received their healing based on this verse, and I’ve used this principal myself to receive things.  But for some reason, I’ve never been able to latch onto it long enough to receive healing in my back.  I’ve had a hard time believing or even imagining my back healed, because for over 40 years I’ve had scoliosis.

When I pray for my back, I have a hard time picturing my spine straight because my brain gets in the way and all I see is my latest x-ray of a crooked spine.

But today, God has shown me the way.  He reminded me of a similar struggle years ago, one that I won by incorporating this verse:

But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.  (Colossians 1:22 NIV)

Because of the blood of Jesus, we see that we are totally forgiven and even holy in the Father’s sight.

Years ago, it was a real struggle for me to believe this.

Because of legalistic teaching, I had a hard time believing that God loved me, forgave me, and saw me as holy.

So I tried an experiment; I tried to picture myself in this verse.

I imagined 2 me’s.  One me, the way I saw myself, stood off to the side of the Father.  The other me, the way God saw me, stood in front of the Father, covered in the Blood of Jesus, and totally holy, without one sin or stain.

And as I looked at the me that God saw, covered in the blood and holy, His words started to sink in.  Slowly, I started to believe that I was holy.  Over the next few weeks, as I continued to picture this several times a day, I began to feel his love and acceptance, until one day I just knew He loved me.

Now, I don’t even question it.

Today, I’m going to use the verse again in another experiment.  If I can’t picture my spine straight, can I at least envision me standing in front of the Father and see my spine the way He sees me?

Because of the blood of Jesus, I know that He calls me healed, and He sees me that way.

So again, I’m going to imagine 2 me’s, the one with the crooked spine off to the side, and the one with the perfect spine standing in front of the Father.

As I pray for my spine, I’m going to focus on the me that the Father sees.  According to Mark 11:24, my healing should then manifest.

As I said, it’s an experiment I’ve only started today; I’ll keep you updated!
